DO NOT come for the pool! This hotel has a nice, fresh interior following a recent major renovation and refurnishing. However, the plumbing fixtures apparently didn't benefit from the facelift and the pool area is an exception to the statement altogether. The pool and hot tub shouldn't even be advertised as amenities until they are suitable for human use. Side note: the pool is listed as heated (even on the Choice website), but it is not. So while you're discounting that detail, go ahead and pretend there is no pool at all.

To describe the pool area's condition as a hellhole would honestly be a bit much, yet the term "dump" is far too kind. Suffice it to say that I have personally swum in much cleaner pools in developing nations (namely: Haiti, Cuba, and Ghana). I have all my shots, but I still couldn't bring myself to submerge my body into this one.

As you can observe in these photos, this pool area exhibits several shocking indications of disrepair and neglect. The drains on the deck are rusty and clogged, and guess where the overflowing filth ends up? That's right: back in the pool water. The deck itself is decorated with a myriad of mysterious spots and stains, as is the bottom of the pool.

Trigger warning — if you can stomach it, look at the photo of the hot tub and look at the color and fogginess of the water therein. Notice also the scummy film all around its tile edge, and the same thereupon the main pool's perimeter. Speaking of the hot tub; it hasn't worked anytime I've been there, illustrated by whatever sort of rigging is on display in the image of its taped-over jet button with a tissue (?) affixed to the wall.

See the picture with the rusty shower head and missing lever? You're supposed to rinse off before swimming, but I would recommend a shower before returning to the hotel (or outside) whether or not you touched the water at all — IF the shower worked, that is. Full disclosure: I didn't try because I was afraid to touch it.

If you still insist upon entering the pool area, you should know that, despite the array of vents on the ceiling (which was recently painted to presumably mask the appearance, but not smell, of the mildew up there), there is absolutely no airflow in the room at all. It's so humid in there that it feels like a rainforest, which is why the windows are always fogged up and the outside door is often propped open.

In conclusion: this is a decent place to stay, but you can find comparable lodging without a pool for a little less money down the road in Lewisville. And if you do want a hotel with a pool in this price range, just look past this one because it isn't worth it. Your life is too valuable to risk!
